《왕십리 : 경계의 시간, 2010》은 2010년 재개발이 진행 중이던 왕십리의 모습을 기록한 다큐멘터리 사진 작업이다.사람들이 떠난 주거 공간과 비어 있는 방, 철거 중인 건물, 잔해와 공터를 따라가며 기존의 도시가 사라지고 새로운 구조가 들어서기 전의 중간 상태를 기록했다. 내부에 남아 있는 달력과 문, 가구와 같은 생활의 흔적과 외부의 비워진 땅, 새롭게 등장하는 건축물이 한 장소 안에서 겹쳐 있는 순간에 주목했다. 이 작업은 재개발의 결과보다, 사라지는 것과 새롭게 만들어지는 것 사이에 잠시 존재했던 경계의 시간을 바라본다.
"WANGSIMNI : A TIME OF TRANSITION, 2010" is a documentary series made during the redevelopment of Wangsimni, Seoul, in 2010. The photographs trace emptied homes, abandoned rooms, partially demolished buildings, rubble, and cleared ground, recording the transitional state before an existing urban landscape disappears and a new structure takes its place. Traces of everyday life—calendars, doors, furniture, and other objects—remain inside, while vacant land and newly emerging architecture begin to appear outside. Rather than focusing on the completed result of redevelopment, the series looks at the temporary threshold between disappearance and reconstruction.
