《THE INDUSTRIAL ALLEYS : WITHIN PRESENT》는 문래에서 시작되었다.
금속가공소, 정밀공업사, 공구점이 여전히 작동하는 골목 사이로 카페, 음식점, 갤러리와 새로운 소비공간이 들어서면서, 서로 다른 시간과 기능이 하나의 건물과 파사드를 나누는 장면에 주목하게 되었다.

문래에서 발견한 이러한 경계를 정면적이고 반복적인 구도로 기록하면서 이 프로젝트의 시각적 방법이 형성되었다. 선택적 디새츄에이션은 오래된 산업의 표면과 새롭게 등장한 색을 구분하지만, 이를 단순히 과거와 현재의 대비로 고정하지 않는다. 시퀀스는 산업의 기억에서 시작해 점차 강해지는 소비의 색과 마주하지만, 그 변화가 어디를 향하는지는 단정하지 않는다.
오래된 생산공간이 끝까지 남을 것인지, 새로운 소비공간이 그 자리를 완전히 대신할 것인지, 혹은 지금의 상업적 풍경 역시 또 다른 변화 속에서 사라질 것인지는 알 수 없다. 문래는 완성된 변화의 결과라기보다 계속 움직이는 도시의 한 순간이며, 이 작업은 그 이후에 무엇이 남고 무엇이 다시 사라질 것인지에 대한 질문을 남긴다.

Here, metalworking shops, precision workshops, and tool stores continue to operate while cafés, restaurants, galleries, and new leisure spaces appear beside them. I became interested in these moments when different functions and different times occupy the same buildings and façades.

Photographing these boundaries through repeated frontal compositions established the visual method of the project. Selective desaturation distinguishes older industrial surfaces from newly emerging color, but does not reduce them to a simple contrast between past and present. The sequence begins with industrial memory and gradually encounters the growing presence of consumer color, without defining where that transformation will ultimately lead.
It remains uncertain whether the older productive spaces will survive, whether new commercial uses will eventually replace them, or whether today’s consumer landscape will itself disappear in another cycle of urban change. Mullae is not the final result of transformation, but one moment within a city that continues to shift. The series therefore leaves an open question: what will remain, and what will disappear next?
